Well this post is just for BabyD. He is such a sweet pup and is thrving most of the time.
We attended our first Pre Agility class last Saturday and he did some great bits. We started really well with play and some waits. But there was some real lunging, barking dogs and it worried him, by the end of the session he had started to suffer a bit and just couldnt engage his brain to perform some of his newly learnt behaviours. However he still tugged well and stayed focused on me so I came away with positives.
This week I have been working on quite a bit. Firstly one of Ds extra stresses at Pre Agility was being taken on and off lead. For some reason he has developed a worry about it and I think it was mostly to do with trying to teach him to accept a halti, I probably rushed some bits with him which just made him paranoid and the fear has transferred to leads. He is ok once it is on and will play with his lead fine. I have been doing lots of collar grab games and lead on/ off etc. He is improving but still shys away now and again. I have also been trying him on a wobble board. I have used them before but this is the a human one and just 50cm diameter so he is having to work a lot harder to get all four feet on and stay on! Finally playing lots of 123 game and trying to tease hm out of his waits ;-)
One week to improve... lets see how it goes!

Cold outside
Well its cold outside and finding motivation to go outside and train has been hard.
Hoaxey has been working really well, some nice turns and contacts looking pretty good. Her weaves have improved so much now she rarely struggles with them. I was really frustrated that the one 'fun' show we did at MAD she missed a simple straight entry... grrr how annoying. We have some sessions over in Kent on Crufts carpet with the team soon so am looking forward to seeing how she goes on astroturf!
I have been finding it really hard to find the time to train D. I wanted to do much more with him but don't have the time, and honestly once Ethans gone to bed, on my rare free night, I dont have the energy. I have had lovely reports of how all his brothers are doing so am hoping that training with two (starting a pre agility on Saturday) of them will motivate me to do more training. The class will be working on foundations like flatwork, motivating recalls, etc which is perfect! D is still quite sensitive and some things can be hard work with him and I have to think a little bit more but shaping has been great to give him confidence. I have shaped everything so far and not lured yet... sure I will give in at some point though!

Saw Ajaxs the other night at Agility, he is mad as ever but was so welcoming and wriggly to say Hi to me, he was very noisy watching the big dogs work... lol sorry Trace, think he got that from Daddy Boo...

Snowy Days
Well as difficult as it makes daily life the show is beautiful. I love walking the dogs through drfits and Ethans been enjoying it aswell.
The dogs are all well and fighting for the warm spots in the house.
Hoax is working really well in training. I dont have any delusions of grandeur for my dogs nowdays and am pleased with small amounts of progress. She seems to be picking her weaves up much better now getting some tricky entries and checking stride for the simple ones. I have also been working on her contacts which seem to be much improved so far. She can be a really good girl with jumping and will turn tight when my timing is good but we can struggle with some handly bits. I also noticed some situations in which she should be bouncing and isnt. It is usually on angled sections (slicing, curves or zigzags) so we will need to do some grids to help with that. Sadly in this weather I just dont have anywhere to do them, let alone any spare time!
Talking of time poor D isnt getting the time he should. Shaping helps as at least when I do train something get the finished behaviour in a few sessions, we have finally got round to shaping a right turn LOL we are so far behind! I hope in the summer we can get more done in the garden. D is so sweet, a really cuddly man but definatly has a naughty streak in him too.
Boo is on rest at the moment. I have been a bit worried as he didnt feel right for his last month or so of competing and has had a few moments he looked lame. He went to the chiro who clicked him back but I still am not sure he is 100%. I rest my dogs every year anyway so he will have Dec/ Jan off and start back on grids in February sometime after another chiro check.
The puppies seem to be doing well passing Good Citizen tests and learning lot of new tricks. I must get off my butt and do more with D but I am so proud the babies are doing well. Keep the updates coming puppy owners! x
